Liburuan:
Organized as a temporary working group, the Manual project set out to explore sound and auditory experience as platforms for social meeting, urban intervention and environmental investigation. How may acts of sonic intervention stimulate forms of collectivity and sharing? Where might we locate points of radical contact that remain hidden from view and that unsettle forms of representation?
The project brought together six artists from around Europe engaged in experimental media practices to instigate collaborative and public work in the city of Oslo. Developed in collaboration with Atelier Nord and the Ultima festival, the participating artists sought to use sound as a medium for temporal and social exchange, drawing out its particular ephemeral and mobile dynamic. From interventions on public trams and silent interactions with strangers to secret interventions in libraries and live transmissions, the works aimed to bring forward amplifications of city life.
