"William Blake" erakusketaren katalogoa. Catálogo de la exposición.

Redesigned in a new format nad more fully illustrated than before, this new edition of the catalogue of the works by William Blake in the Tate Gallery will take its place as one of a continuing series of detailed catalogues of the Historic British Collection: the first to be published, "The Age of Hogarth", appeared in the summer of 1988. Every works is reproduced, in colour where appropiate, and the scope of the catalogue has been considerably enlarged by giving fuller treatment to the engravings by Blake in the collections.
Since the publication of the second edition in 1971 several new works have been acquired, including two important paintings in tempera. The 173 entries have all been fully revised and the discovery late in 1981 that some of the large colour prints, though dated 1795 by Blake himself, are on paper watermarked 1804, has meant a considerable revision of this section. Recent research has also led to a reassessment of Blake's illustrations to Dante, of which there are twenty examples in the collection. There is also a section on works formerly atributed to William Blake.
The text includes an introductory essay by Martin Butlin and a new article on the formation of the collection by Krzysztof Cieszkowski, Assistant Librarian at the Tate Gallery.
