Liburuan:
Dominico Bianchi's calligraphic imagery is extremely personal, light and precious. The images seem to be cut slightly into the wood and consequently seem to float on the waxen surface. The image does not bring to mind a particular stylistic tradition. Searching the rich history of Italian abstract painting (from Prampolini to Fontana and Burri) one discovers a certain parallel to the way Bianchi models the surface by his way of drawing and sense of rhythm.
However conscious and fast the cut Lucio Fontana made in the canvas may have been, there is a delicate and even subtle quality which I, a complete outsider, always consider typical of Italian art, of its atmosphere. This specific quality is expressed in different ways: in the delicate figures of Medardo Rosso (Bianchi must certainly love those), in the tranquil, luminous atmosphere of Morandi's still lifes, and still earlier, in the refined harmonies of Botticelli and Raphael. From time to time, but not often, there are breaks (Caravaggio, Boccioni, Kounellis) which leave mysterious traces in the otherwise so atmospheric tradition.
